Deion Sanders Tweets Estranged Wife’s Assault Arrest

The Story
NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders' wife Pilar is back in the spotlight, having been arrested on Monday night on suspicion of domestic violence. Sanders tweeted the incident, including a photograph of him filling out a police report.

He claims Pilar and a friend entered their Dallas home and began "kicking, biting, and scratching" him in front of his sons. Though the couple is going through a highly publicized and bitter divorce, they are reportedly still living together.

Probably not for much longer, though.
This isn't the first time Deion Sanders' wife has been accused of violence. She was arrested in February after a fight with Deion's aunt. Police found her holding kitchen knives, which she refused to drop upon their request.

Soon after, she filed a $200 million suit against Deion and his daughter, accusing them of defamation and emotional distress.

Should his wife go to Jail? You decide.

Bobby Brown Arrested for DUI: Cops Caught Whitney Houston’s Ex on Phone

The Story
Whitney Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown spent a few hours behind bars Monday after his arrest in connection with DUI, police said. Brown, 43, was pulled over in Los Angeles' Reseda neighborhood about 12:20 p.m., when cops spotted him driving while talking on a cell phone without using a hands-free device, the Los Angeles Times reports. That's been illegal in California since 2009, according to the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Officers conducted a field sobriety test, which Brown allegedly failed, police said. So what punishments could Brown possibly face for his alleged cell-phone and DUI violations? Should we put Bobby in prison?

Gucci Mane Sentenced to 6 Mos. for Battery

The Story

gucci-mane-150x150Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane was sentenced to 6 months in jail in Georgia for shoving a woman out of his moving Hummer last January. The rapper reportedly met the woman last January after picking her up at a mall in Atlanta.

He first invited her to eat breakfast with him before offering $150 to check into a hotel with him, Aceshowbiz reports. When she refused, Mane shoved her out of his moving car. The woman was later taken to the hospital.

Judging from his long record and past probation violations, Mane will likely need to be extra cautious when he gets out of prison in six months. Courts may be more likely to impose harsher penalties on repeat probation violators.

50 Cent Sued Over Assault at His Mansion

The Story

50CENT_34Rapper 50 Cent has been sued over an alleged assault at his Connecticut mansion in 2009. He is named in the suit because he employed a known criminal, Dwayne McKenzie. McKenzie made "awkward" sexual advances and asked for oral sex. When Ortiz refused and tried to leave the house, McKenzie pinned her down. Employers (like 50 Cent here) can be named in lawsuits for negligent hiring.  Reports haven't indicated exactly what McKenzie was hired to do for 50 Cent. If he was hired to hold a gun and act as security, 50 Cent may be in trouble.

Is 50 Cent Guilty?

Lauryn Hill Stole Clothes from European Tour, Lawsuit Claims

The Story
Singer Lauryn Hill is being sued by fashion consulting company Via Davia Vintage. The fashion company was hired to outfit Hill for her 2007 European tour. As part of their services, they provided Hill with an entire wardrobe of high-fashion items. As it turns out, Hill kept the clothes - and didn't pay up. The lawsuit alleges that Hill reneged on her original promise to pay the company a weekly fee for the four weeks she was loaned the clothes. Instead, Hill kept the clothes for three months, way beyond the agreed time frame. And, the company accuses Hill of only paying a small fraction of their agreed fees. She also only returned 30% of the items provided. This isn't Hill's only legal dispute stemming from her 2007 European tour. Lauryn Hill was sued by guitarist Jay Gore last month for $20,000, who says the singer never paid him for his work on the tour.   What do you think?

Rappers Paul Wall, Baby Bash Arrested for Drug Possession

The Story
Texas rappers Paul Wall and Baby Bash were arrested in El Paso on Sunday. And, like most celebrities, Paul Wall took to Twitter to discuss his run-in with the law. The two rappers were busted for possession of 2 ounces of marijuana in a drug-free zone, reports Billboard. Baby Bash said that the duo admitted to smoking marijuana in court, but they didn't have drugs on them at the time of the arrest, MTV reports. Do the two rappers seem to be getting off relatively easy? It's because possession of smaller quantities of drugs like marijuana are often classified as misdemeanors, depending on which state you're in. In Texas specifically, possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana is classified as a Class B misdemeanor. Possession of larger amounts may lead to felony charges. What do you think?

It's fraudulent not to disclose known defects and to make statements about one's home that are untrue.  It's also negligent for an inspector to take a homeowner at his word.   What's your verdict?

Tone Loc Arrested for Domestic Violence

The Story

Born Anthony Smith, rapper Tone Loc, arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence in Burbank, California over the weekend, is reportedly out on bail, having posted a bond of $50,000 three hours after being hauled into jail.

Known mostly for his rise to fame in the 1980's with hits like "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina," there is little information about exactly what occurred prior to Tone Loc's arrest.

Two Bone Thugs-n-Harmony fans paid around $80 to meet the band, including Bizzy Bone, on a tour bus stop in Chicago. For some reason, Bizzy beat the fans - as in, he assaulted them, according to news reports.

Once on the bus, Bizzy and the fans started screaming at each other, and Bizzy started swinging. Bizzy managed to dominate the fight, wailing on both of the men until one of the other Bone Thugs-n-Harmony members stepped in to stop the fight, TMZ reports.

Ricki Lake Sued for ‘Burning Down’ Malibu Beach House

The Story

Ricki Lake: fire starter?

According to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, this very well may be true.

Hovsep Kousouyan, owner of Lake's rented Malibu beach house, is suing for unspecified damages, alleging that Lake's negligence left his multi-million dollar home ablaze and burnt to a crisp.

In September 2010, Ricki Lake was in her rented Malibu beach house with her two sons when she called 911 to report a fire.

Law enforcement told the press that Lake was refilling a portable heater with oil when the couch caught on fire, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The lawsuit contends that this, along with other statements made to officials, demonstrates that Lake had admitted liability for the fire that left the house unlivable.

What's your vote? Is she innocent or guilty?

Lindsay Lohan Stalker: Restraining Order on David Cocordan Granted

The Story

It's a little lazy to stalk someone currently on house arrest, but Lindsay Lohan stalker David Cocordan appears to have capitalized on Lohan's restricted lifestyle.

After he sent countless text messages and made an attempt to speak to the judge presiding over her theft case, the embattled actress was granted a restraining order against Cocordan, who must now refrain from harassing the actress and remain at least 100 yards away for the next 2 years.

According to court records, the 28-year-old man sent over 100 text messages to Lohan, including some that bordered on sexually explicit, reports E! Online. David Cocordan also showed up at the actress' home, as well as at nearly all of her recent court hearings.

Would you give this guy a restraining order against her?

Rapper Cassidy Arrested: Suspect in Philadelphia Murder

The Story

Rapper Cassidy has been arrested in Hackensack, New Jersey, on probation violation charges, and also as a suspect in a murder case and two attempted murder cases, reports CBS News.

Rapper Cassidy, born Barry Reese, 28, was arrested last week at a Hackensack convenience store, in broad daylight.

Hackensack police executed a Philadelphia "high risk" warrant for Reese's arrest, based on an undercover officer's positive identification of Reese in the convenience store, reports Inquisitr.com.

Reese "was very surprised" when he was arrested, said Hackensack police Lt. Timothy Lloyd.

The probation violation charge results from Reese's conviction on involuntary manslaughter charges in a 2006 shooting case, and subsequent sentence to 11 and a half to 23 months in jail. Reese served about eight months of that sentence before release, reports rapfix.mtv.com.

Jay-Z ‘Big Pimpin’ Lawsuit Can Go Forward, Judge Rules

The Story

For rap artist and media mogul Jay-Z, "Big Pimpin" was a hit. Now a judge has ruled in favor of a big pimpin' lawsuit and Jay-Z is one step closer to a big pimpin' day in court.

At the center of the lawsuit is a sampled loop of "Khosara, Khosara," a song composed by the late Baligh Hamdy. The song was originally featured in Fata Ahlami, a 1960s Egyptian film. Hamdy passed away in 1993, and the copyright to the song passed down to his children.

"Big Pimpin" was released more than a decade ago, and was a track on Jay-Z's Vol. 3Array The Life & Times of S. Carter album. The song featured a sampled loop of "Khosara, Khosara" in its instrumental track.

Jay-Z and his team contend that they have the correct license to use the Egyptian song.

Should Jay-z be able to use the song or not?

AFLAC Duck No More: Gilbert Gottfried Fired Over Japan Jokes

The Story
Comedy is largely a matter of timing. Comedian Gilbert Gottfried missed that memo, and wound up losing a cushy voiceover job because of a lack of sensitivities.

Gottfriend, who was the voice of the Aflac duck, posted some off color jokes about the 8.9 magnitude Japan earthquake and tsunami on his Twitter account, Reuters reports.

Gottfried's jokes included:

"Japan is really advanced. They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them."

Did we mention that according to the Associated Press, 75% of Aflac's business is in Japan? Ooops.

Naturally, Gilbert Gottfried was quickly back on Twitter apologizing, "I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan. I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families."

But it was already too late to save his job. Aflac promptly sent the controversial comedian packing.

What's your vote? Should Aflac have tossed him for his insensitive comments?

Quentin Tarantino Sues Neighbor Over ‘Blood-Curdling Screams’

The Story

Hollywood has a lot of interesting lawsuits. Take Quentin Tarantino, he's suing a neighbor for the "pterodactyl-like" screams coming from his "exotic bird menagerie." (Does Tarantino really know what kind of sound a pterodactyl makes?)

"On a daily basis Defendant's macaws, large tropical birds known for their loud squawks and screams, are placed in an outdoor aviary where they emit blood-curdling screams at random intervals for 7 to 8 hours each day Array which are not only startling, but have also seriously disrupted Mr. Tarantino's ability to work as a writer in his home," NYmag.com reports.

So who is this defendant that lives next door to Quentin Tarantino? None other than Alan Ball and his partner Peter Macdissi. Ball wrote American Beauty and created Six Feet Under and True Blood. After all, Quentin Tarantino isn't going to live next door to some guy that works at the DMV.

Tarantino questions in his lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, why Ball doesn't recognize the distraction of the birds as a fellow writer.

"[They] know that their birds issue blood-curdling, prehistoric sounding screams, they do not maintain the macaws in their residence, but place them in an outdoor aviary. Though one might assume that, as a fellow writer, Mr. Ball would understand and respect a writer's need for peace and quietArray"

Are these screaming birds and it's owner guilty or innocent?

Hulk Hogan Sues Car Dealership, Cocoa Pebbles Cereal

The Story

Hogan recently sued Post Foods, alleging that they stole his likeness to help sell a couple million boxes of Cocoa Pebbles, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The "Cocoa Smashdown" commercial featured a Hulk Hogan lookalike defeating Fred and Barney, only to be ambushed and taken down by little Bam-Bam. This blogger thinks he just couldn't take the ego hit of being beaten by a toddler.

And now who is Hulk Hogan suing for encroaching on his carefully crafted image?

Southland Imports and Suntrup Automotive Group of Florida. The car dealership has reportedly been running a commercial that, according to The Hollywood Reporter, mimics some of Hulk Hogan's catchphrases. Inviting customers "tired of wrestling for a good deal," the commercial mimics Hogan's voice, overuses the word "brother," and shows someone pointing to his own muscles and referring to them as "guns."

Buju Banton Found Guilty of Cocaine Dealing, Faces 15 Years

The Story

Banton was in the news recently when he won his Grammy Award. It wasn't widely publicized that he was also set to stand trial in a federal court in Florida, which the New York Daily News reports stemmed from charges that he conspired to distribute cocaine.

During the Buju Banton trial, the reggae star testified that he was bluffing and had no money to make a deal. However, he still attempted to make a deal with an undercover informant, who, according to the New York Daily News, caught the exchange on audio and videotape. The recordings show Banton boasting about the drug deal and sampling cocaine.

Even though Banton could not follow through with the exchange, he was charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine. To be found guilty of a conspiracy, the prosecutor must prove that the defendant agreed with a second person to commit a crime, and that some step was taken in furtherance of that crime. Banton was tried with a co-defendant, according to the BBC, meeting the first requirement. By showing up to speak to the undercover informant and sampling the drugs, he met the second.

A federal jury ended the Buju Banton trial by finding him guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, another drug trafficking offense, and illegal possession of a firearm, as reported by the BBC. It took 11 hours of deliberations to decide on his fate.

What do you think? Take your vote.

Rihanna Sued by Photographer David LaChapelle Over Music Video

The Story

The Rihanna S&M video and the single that accompanies it have been controversial and have not made much of a dent on the charts. The video has been banned in a number of countries due to its sexual content. LaChapelle specifically says in the lawsuit that Rihanna stole eight images for the video, copying the "composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting of his work."

LaChapelle is likely to have an uphill battle in this case. Copyright law does not protect ideas. Copyright gives the owner of a photograph the sole right to publish the photo, but that doesn't mean that another person can't take their photo as inspiration and incorporate it into a new project. By contrast, in order to prevail LaChapelle would nearly have to prove that Rihanna used his images or directly derived them from his photos.

So what do you think? Is Rihanna Guilty or Innocent?

Lindsay Lohan Necklace Case: Is She a Jewelry Thief?

The Story

Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay. Back in the news again? Back in jail again? Well, maybe. Just out of rehab, Lindsay Lohan is again in trouble with the police--this time for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a high-end boutique in Venice, California.

Spotting paparazzi photos and surveillance video of the Lindsay Lohan necklace around the actress' neck, the store's owner reported the theft to the police.

Before detectives could execute a search warrant, a Lohan associate returned the necklace to the LAPD, reports the Daily News.

The Lindsay Lohan necklace investigation does not end there. California considers a theft of property over $950 to be grand theft--a felony. Prosecutors are holding onto the necklace as evidence, notes Reuters, while they further investigate the claims of both parties. Jersey Shore: Angelina Sued for Casino Attack

The Story

Those nice kids from New Jersey are in trouble again. This time, it's Jersey Shore's Angelina Pivarnick, who is being sued over an alleged assault on a woman before a celebrity boxing match in New Jersey at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino.

According to the alleged victim, Melissa Mayne, she was leaving the Trump Taj Mahal when she encountered Angelina Pivarnick who was on her way to box in the celebrity match. Mayne alleges that Angelina "suddenly grabbed her, struck her in the face, threw a glass in her face and grabbed her cell phone and threw it to the ground," TMZ reports.

Traditionally, assault is the threat of imminent bodily harm that causes the reasonable apprehension of harm in the victim. By contrast, battery is the unwanted touching of another person in a painful, harmful, violent, or offensive way. Many states no longer make the distinction between the two crimes and simply charge them as assault and battery.

Kardashian Card: Dash Lawsuit Demands $75 Million

The Story

It seems that the Kardashian card drama continues even after the Kardashian sisters cut ties with the Dash card. In fact, it is because the sisters cut ties with the Kardashian card that they are now facing a $75 million lawsuit, according to CBS News. The "Kardashian Kard" was called predatory because it "carried unreasonable fees and unfairly targeted unsophisticated young adults," FindLaw's Common Law reported.

The Kardashians chose to sever ties with the product three weeks after its launch. Now, the company that launched the "Kardashian Kard" is suing the sisters for breach of contract.

Should the Kardashian's pay up for their breach of contract? Are the Kardashian's innocent or guilty?

Jamie Pressley DUI Mugshot: ‘Earl’ Actress Arrested

The Story

What is it about police station cameras that make celebrities look so bad? Or are we just seeing what they really look like, without all the makeup and lighting?

For an example, look no further than the Jaime Pressly DUI. The actress was arrested and booked early Thursday for DUI. The star of "My Name Is Earl" was arrested after a traffic stop in Santa Monica, L.A. Now reports. She was charged with DUI after reportedly failing a field sobriety test. (However, it's worth noting that field sobriety tests are optional in California, and if one chooses to participate, they are not "pass or fail.")

Jamie Pressly recently told Health magazine that she was "healthier, fitter and happier than ever." Pressly has a three-year-old son Dezi James with former fiance DJ Eric Calvo. She married entertainment lawyer Simran Singh in September 2009.

Should Jamie Pressly go to the slammer for drinking to much?

Rapper Ja Rule to Get 2 Years in Prison on Gun Charge

The Story
"This isn't a good day fellas." Those were the words of rapper Ja Rule as he left a Manhattan court house after being sentenced to two years in prison on gun charges. The 34-year-old rapper (real name: Jeffrey Atkins) was caught with a loaded gun in his car after leaving a Lil' Wayne concert in 2007.

The arrest, which came the same night as Lil Wayne's gun possession charge in a separate incident, was the result of a routine traffic stop for speeding.

After smelling marijuana in the car, the cops also discovered a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun was sitting in the driver's side door. Two years in prison followed by probation was the plea agreement Ja Rule accepted just a week before he was scheduled to go to trial. The Ja Rule plea bargain seems to be a wise choice as he could have been sentenced to up to fifteen years in prison if convicted by a jury.

Should Ja Rule go to jail for 2 years?
